Meet David

David Blount familyDavid Blount represents District 29 (Hinds County including Byram, Terry, and parts of Jackson and Clinton) in the Mississippi State Senate.

David is an 8th generation Mississippian. He and his wife, Katie, have two children, Susanna (12) and Charley (10). They are active in their church, neighborhood, and the public school their children attend.

Senator Blount is Vice Chairman of the Fees, Salaries, and Administration Committee and of the Drug Policy Committee. He serves as Secretary of the Judiciary B Committee and as a member of the following committees: Appropriations; Education; Elections; Ethics; Labor, and Public Utilities. He is a member of the Mississippi Legislature Sportsman's Caucus and the Mississippi Legislative Prayer Caucus.

David is the son of Richard and Martha Blount of Jackson.

David has been recognized as one of Mississippi's top young business leaders. He is a former Vice President of Parents for Public Schools-Jackson chapter and a member of the Board of Directors of the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame. Some of his other community and church activies are:

  • "Legislator of the Year" from the Mississippi chapter of the Association of Education and Rehabilitation for the Blind and Visually Impaired
